A Week in Lourdes
Our week in Lourdes starts well before easter when we get out group of volunteers together. These are the people who give up holiday time, and pay for themselves to come and help during the week! Amazing!
Our main aim for the week is to create memories for the VIP’s we take. The children and young adults we take are our main concern, we tailor the week to suit them and allow them to enjoy their time away.
During the week we visit a number of locations in and around Lourdes. The grotto of course, Bernadette’s house, Gavarnie and many more. Each day is full of activities, you are always kept busy!
Key events during the week where we join with to other 5000 people with HCPT are as follows.
- Easter Sunday Mass: the week in Lourdes kicks off on Easter Sunday for many with a Mass and lots of singing.
- Tuesday evening Torchlight Procession: this is a wonderfully visual and emotional event. All the pilgrims in Lourdes are invited to come together for a torchlight procession, singing along, and on Tuesday night HCPT leads the procession. There is a great sing-along at the end.
- Thursday Trust Mass: over 5,000+ members of HCPT, the Irish Pilgrimage Trust, and other international groups come together in the Underground Basilica. For many this is the highlight of the week.
